Where does time go?
Hey kids and kats.

This blog post keeps getting away from me, so there’s nothing to do for that but to just sit down and start writing. How are you guys feeling? Me? I’ve been pretty busy, as usual. A few weekends ago, you may remember, I got the chance to go on my favorite radio program, Stonecold Bikini. It was really such a great time. Had a blast. Didn’t get a chance to catch it? Well look here, I’ve got the audio. I come in at about the 25-30 minute mark.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
But don’t let me just go on about that. Let’s talk about the now, let’s talk about the future.
PUPPYTEETH SALE
I’ve had a lot of fun doing this summer sale, and I think we got a lot of copies of the book out. It was just the thing to make up for the lull between comics shows. Of course, with PACC coming up this weekend, that also means that the sale is almost over. So you’ve got til Friday the 12th to take advantage of getting both issues of PUPPYTEETH for super cheap.
Shows!
Yeah that’s right, I’ll be in Philly this weekend, my first time, for the Philadelphia Alternative Comic Con. I’m really excited to get back on the ground floor of what’s going on in comics. Being around your own people is one of the best feelings in the world, and I’m really hoping I see a lot of you readers there if you can make it. I’ve also been really impressed with how much activity seems to be coming out of Philly – stuff like the Secret Prison anthology and the forthcoming Retrofit Comics publishing effort spearheaded by Box Brown. Exciting stuff!

The image above is the cover to my newest little short story which I will be debuting at PACC. Not for everyone! But, I think it came out pretty well. I’ll sell it to you for 5 bucks, what do you say?
PACC will also kick off my con schedule for the rest of the year, where I’ll be tabling at least once a month until the end of the year. Be sure to come see me at SPX, PIX and Cleveland’s own Genghis Con in November.
Speaking of which, I made a flyer for that show to start getting the hype machine going. Obzoive:

Other People Doing Things!
My talented brother has moved himself to New York City and is doing all the cool things the rest of the country is not special enough for. Besides all that, though, he’s been doing amazing animations that teach you things about energy. I’m a pretty big fan, obviously.
Also, my other Brooklyn friend Miss Lexicon is starting a new zine all about first dates, and she’s looking for people to submit stories and/or illustrations! Here’s the deets:
First Date is a zine dedicated to the exciting, nerve wracking, sometimes awkward, sometimes hilarious, always eventful milestone: the first date. First Date is currently seeking nonfiction essays (1500 words maximum) that recount the story of a first date. Essays should run about 1500 words maximum. First Date is also seeking illustrators. Ideally, each essay in First Date will be paired with a corresponding illustration.
Submission guidelines:
Writers: Please submit a First Date themed nonfiction essay (1500 words maximum) to firstdatezine@gmail.com
Illustrators: Please submit 1-2 samples that represent the style you would like to work in when illustrating for First Date.
Submission deadline: October 1, 2011
I think this is a really cool idea. The world needs more zines.
Vague Futures
There’s also some other exciting news to come, but it’s too early for a lot of it. Just know that there are really cool things in the works to look out for in October and beyond.
Also, it’s crazy that it’s almost been a year since I finished working on Spoilers. I feel I’ve come a pretty far way since then, thanks in no small part to all the work I’ve been putting into this comics thing. I still have a lot to learn about the form, and I still see a lot of interesting possibilities in webcomics. I bring this up because I want to say in a cryptic manner that next year is going to fun.
