Making Moves
Hi gang.
I’ve been pretty busy so far and it’s already February, can you believe that? The years plan of having it all come together seems to be working out pretty well which is really positive!

I did some fan art for Katie Skelly’s Beegirl. As your internet should remember for you, Katie was one of the five interesting cartoonists I singled out a week or two ago in that one post.

Fantastic Cleveland-centric online publication Messy Magazine released their exciting, year-ending 6th issue. As if this wasn’t enough to warrant a mention here, they’ve also gone and thrown in a little sampler page for Spoilers that I sent them. The issue on a whole look really nice and you can check it out here.
I also made this comic thing for something going down over at MeatHaus Enterprises. I like how it turned out but I can’t help but feel a little guilty posting it.
Allow me to es’splain.
This strip is even more out-of-context than what I usually make, because really I was playing around. I consider it a perfectionist sketch — it’s based on an idea I’ve just started kicking around and this is my first attempt at putting that idea to paper (a post-Spoilers project of some sort, no doubt). So enjoy it for what it is, and if it doesn’t make a lot of sense to you, don’t feel bad, and don’t hate me.
Surrounded by Movers and Shakers

I’m not the only one being busy! My buddy Liz [last name withheld for tax purposes] is working on a full-length comic epic called Sacred Heart. She’s posted the first several pages on her livejournal with promises to follow up with more. Go see! UPDATE: It really is looking very nice (funny how the setting is our high school, renamed to another high school in the area [insider scoop])

Yesterday was Hourly Comics day and Niki Smith got in on the action, here and here.

Because Andy really wanted me to, I got a Tumblr. Not sure what to do with it yet, really, but might be a good supplement to the old Encyclopedia.
And finally: spoils

and, again, thanks for joining tumblr!
i guess my encouragement was a little selfish as i’m the only one of our VA friends who will benefit from your participation. djerek bailed after a month or two. understandably – the platform just doesn’t suit his art.
on the other hand, i hope it does for yours. i’ve seen photo/comic/art tumblrs building impressive audiences as the site’s audience is rabid for new content.

ps: i’m also really looking forward to ‘sacred heart.’ it’s great to see all my friends movin’ and shakin’
